An Overview of DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2: The Games
So the sequel, DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2: The Games, follows the same basic gameplay formula as before. You have to keep your character alive by making him or her avoid all sorts of death traps. These range from a tanning booth gone wrong to an escalator that works just a little too well. The game also includes some somewhat comical death traps like a microwave that has a mind of its own. When your character dies, you are placed back at the beginning of the stage. This is also where your points are tallied up. If you manage to complete the level without dying, your point total increases. As you died previously, the stages are randomized each time you play. If you die before the end, you start back at the beginning.
So far, so good. Now let’s also discuss the game’s actual gameplay aspect.
DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2 Gameplay: The Challenges
It may seem that we have a lot of other things to talk about in this article, but we really only have one major point for this section: speedrunning. Speedrunning is the act of playing through a level as quickly as possible. In DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2 , there exists an entire category dedicated to this idea. DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2: The Games Speedrun is a category that’s active on sites like Speedrun.com and World Records Academy.
If you’ve ever wanted to prove your “DUMB” status, this is the place for you! You can also compete in the regular DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2 category as well.
Other than speedrunning, this game has another major gameplay aspect: Bonus Rounds. This game features a bonus stage where you get to try your hand at a variety of mini games. These range from simple war games to more complex platforming challenges. The final game challenge is a survival challenge that means literally dying over and over again.
The best part about these Bonus Levels is that you can use them to unlock death-free ways to die, and also kill yourself over and over again. This might be taken to an extreme at times, but hey, we’re DUMB!
DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2: The Games Review (Final Verdict)
There’s a lot of fun to be had with this game.
However, there are some drawbacks to it as well. We already touched on the problem of random generation, but we also think that the game could do with a few additional features in the form of unlockable content. Not everyone may want to play through the same stages over and over again.
Lastly, the game does have some issues with loading times. It’s something that we think could be improved upon moving forward. The game also has some minor technical issues, but nothing extremely major that will make you dislike it. Overall, the game is fun in its own right, we recommend giving DUMB WAYS TO DIE 2: The Games a try if you feel like your “DUMB” status needs to be proven.
